Audioslave was an American rock supergroup formed in 2001 in Glendale, California, featuring Chris Cornell of Soundgarden alongside Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk from Rage Against the Machine. Blending elements of seventies hard rock and nineties alternative with influences from funk, soul, and rhythm and blues, Audioslave became known for Cornell's powerful vocals and Morello's inventive guitar work. Over six years, the band released three albums, earned multiple Grammy nominations, sold over eight million records worldwide, and made history as the first American rock band to play an open-air concert in Cuba. Audioslave disbanded in 2007, briefly reunited in 2017, but could not continue after Cornell's passing later that year.
