Canned Heat

Canned Heat

Canned Heat is an American blues rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by blues enthusiasts Alan Wilson and Bob Hite. Named after Tommy Johnson's classic "Canned Heat Blues," the band became known for bringing blues music to a wider audience and honoring original blues artists. Gaining fame after standout performances at the Monterey and Woodstock festivals, the band’s classic lineup included Hite, Wilson, Henry Vestine or Harvey Mandel on guitar, Larry Taylor on bass, and Adolfo de la Parra on drums. Their energetic blend of blues standards and original material, including international hits like Going Up the Country, On the Road Again, and Let's Work Together, made them a staple of the late 1960s music scene. Despite many lineup changes after Wilson's death, de la Parra has continued to lead the band, which remains active and influential in blues and rock circles.
