Jim Croce was an American singer-songwriter known for his folk and rock sound. Active from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s, he released five studio albums and gained widespread fame after partnering with guitarist Maury Muehleisen. Croce's breakthrough came with the album "You Don't Mess Around with Jim," featuring hits like "Time in a Bottle" and "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," his only number one single during his lifetime. At the peak of his career in 1973, Croce tragically died in a plane crash. His music continued to find success after his death, and his legacy lived on through his wife Ingrid and his son A J Croce, who both pursued careers in music.
