Moby, born Richard Melville Hall in 1965, is a highly influential American musician, producer, and DJ who was a key figure in bringing dance music into the mainstream in the 1990s. Beginning his career in punk bands and later moving to electronic music, he broke through with the single "Go" in 1991. Over the years, Moby achieved success with several top 10 dance hits and critically acclaimed albums, notably Everything Is Wrong and Play. His album Play became a global phenomenon, selling 12 million copies, with every track featured in films and advertisements.
Known for his versatility, Moby has continued to explore a range of styles from electronica to ambient music, releasing numerous albums including Resound NYC in 2023. Outside of music, he is a passionate vegan and animal rights advocate, running plant-based cafes and organizing vegan festivals. He has also authored books, including two memoirs detailing his life and creative journey.
