Rosa Passos, born April 13, 1952, is a renowned Brazilian singer and guitarist celebrated for her smooth bossa nova style. Initially trained on the piano, she shifted her focus to singing after being inspired by legends Dorival Caymmi and João Gilberto. Passos began her career in the late 1960s with television appearances and music festivals, gaining national attention when her song Mutilados won first prize at the 1972 Festival Universitario. She released her debut album in 1978 and continued to develop her distinctive sound in later works like Amorosa. Throughout her career, Passos has recorded tributes to her musical influences and toured internationally. Her music reached a wider audience with the re-release of Amorosa in 2004, which charted in the United States. In recognition of her contribution to music, she received an Honorary Doctorate from Berklee College of Music in 2008.
