Sam Fender, born in 1994 in North Shields, is an English singer, songwriter, and musician known for blending American influences with British rock. Recognized for his high tenor voice and Geordie accent, Fender first gained attention in 2018 with his EP Dead Boys and was spotlighted by the BBC as one to watch. He won the Brit Awards Critics' Choice in 2019 before releasing his debut album Hypersonic Missiles, which reached number one in the UK. His acclaimed follow-up, Seventeen Going Under, also topped the charts and earned a Mercury Prize nomination. Fender is celebrated for his honest songwriting and has received multiple Brit Awards, including British Rock Alternative Act in 2022 and 2025.
