Sandra Ann Lauer, born in 1962 and later known as Sandra Cretu, is a celebrated German pop singer who rose to fame in the 1980s and early 1990s with a series of European hits produced by her then-husband Michael Cretu. Her best-known songs include Maria Magdalena, In the Heat of the Night, Everlasting Love, Secret Land, Hiroshima, and Don't Be Aggressive. Previously the lead singer of the disco group Arabesque, Sandra also contributed vocals to the internationally successful Enigma project. With over 33 million records sold worldwide, she is regarded as one of the most successful and popular German female vocalists, especially noted for outselling even Madonna in several countries during her peak years.
