Rage Against the Machine was a groundbreaking rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1991 by Zack de la Rocha, Tim Commerford, Tom Morello, and Brad Wilk. Known for their fusion of heavy metal, rap, punk, and funk, they combined powerful music with bold, revolutionary lyrics challenging authority and capitalism. Their acclaimed debut album arrived in 1992 and they went on to release hit albums such as Evil Empire and The Battle of Los Angeles, both of which topped the charts. With their energetic live shows and influence on the nu metal genre, Rage Against the Machine became one of the most impactful bands of their era, selling over 16 million records worldwide. After several breakups and reunions, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. The band officially disbanded in 2024.
