Keep of Kalessin is a Norwegian extreme metal band from Trondheim, founded in 1993 by guitarist and keyboardist Obsidian C. The original lineup featured Ghash on vocals, Warach on bass, and Vyl on drums, releasing two early albums, Through Times of War and Agnen: A Journey Through the Dark, before disbanding. After a brief hiatus, Obsidian C. revived the band with a new lineup, releasing the EP Reclaim in 2003 and the acclaimed album Armada in 2006. Known for their powerful and melodic style, Keep of Kalessin toured with bands like Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir, and released their fourth album, Kolossus, in 2008. The band’s name is inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s Earthsea novels. Keep of Kalessin received a Spellemannprisen nomination in the metal category in 2008.
