Laura Branigan (1952–2004) was an American pop singer best known for her 1982 hit "Gloria," which became an international sensation, spending 36 weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reaching number one in both Australia and Canada. Her powerful voice and energetic performances brought her further success throughout the 1980s with hits like "Self Control," "Solitaire," "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You," and "Ti Amo." Branigan's music was featured in several major film and television soundtracks during her peak years, and she won the 1984 Tokyo Music Festival with "The Lucky One." While her popularity declined in the 1990s, she made a brief return to the stage in the early 2000s before her untimely death in 2004. Years later, "Gloria" enjoyed a resurgence in popularity when it became the victory anthem for the St. Louis Blues during their 2019 Stanley Cup run.
