Marcus Miller, born June 14, 1959, is an acclaimed American musician, songwriter, and record producer known for his influential work in jazz, R&B, and pop. He is recognized for his collaborations with legendary artists such as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Luther Vandross, Wayne Shorter, and David Sanborn. Miller played a key creative role as the main songwriter and producer on three of Miles Davis' late-career albums, including Tutu. He also worked closely with Luther Vandross, co-writing and producing many of Vandross' major hits. In addition, Miller co-wrote the well-known 1988 single Da Butt for the band Experience Unlimited.
