Bärenreiter comes up with a new edition of the School of Violin Technology of the legendary Czech pedagogue and violinist Otakar Ševčík (1852-1934). His Opus 1 is quite exceptional. It is the first basic summary of the principles and knowledge of his own method, which Ševčík built against the traditional teaching systems of the 19th century. His method was so groundbreaking that it became the basis of many other violin schools. Generations of violinists all over the world grew up on Opus 1, and even more than 130 years after its establishment, Ševčík's Violin School has not aged.

New edition of four notebooks of the School of Violin Technology, Op. 1 is basically based on the first printed edition from the beginning of the 20th century, but it also works with other sources from Ševčík's estate. The edition was prepared by Jaroslav Foltýn, a professor at the Prague Conservatory, a direct student of Ševčík's assistant Viktor Nopp and a successor of his pedagogical legacy at the same school.

Opus 1 launches Bärenreiter's series of new editions of Ševčík's most important works.
