Stratovarius is a Finnish power metal band formed in 1984. They have released sixteen studio albums and are known for their melodic, symphonic sound. Over the years, Stratovarius has gone through numerous line-up changes, with no original members remaining since 1995, and with singer Timo Kotipelto, who joined in 1994, now being the longest-serving member. The band found international success in the 1990s with albums like Fourth Dimension and Visions, and their so-called classic line-up helped define their signature style. Despite significant changes, including the departure of founding songwriter Timo Tolkki in 2008, Stratovarius continued to release acclaimed albums and maintain a strong presence in the metal scene. The current line-up, stable since 2012, marks the band’s longest period without changes.
