The Cardigans are a Swedish rock band formed in Jönköping in 1992, known for their blend of pop and alternative rock. The original lineup featured Peter Svensson on guitar, Magnus Sveningsson on bass, Bengt Lagerberg on drums, Lars-Olof Johansson on keyboards, and Nina Persson as lead vocalist. Since reuniting in 2012 after a five-year break, Oskar Humlebo has replaced Svensson on guitar for live performances.
Their debut album Emmerdale established them in Sweden, while the follow-up Life gained them international attention. They achieved global success with the hit single Lovefool from First Band on the Moon, which was featured in the film Romeo plus Juliet. Later releases include Gran Turismo, known for the singles Erase Rewind and My Favourite Game, and the country-inspired Long Gone Before Daylight. Their most recent album is Super Extra Gravity. The Cardigans have sold over 15 million albums worldwide.
