Too Short, born Todd Anthony Shaw on April 28, 1966, is an influential American rapper and a key figure in West Coast hip-hop. Emerging from Oakland in the early 1980s, he gained notoriety for his explicit lyrics centered on street life, relationships, and survival, famously showcased in hits like Blow the Whistle and The Ghetto. He is notable for collaborating with both Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B I G at the peak of their careers. After building a strong local following with his independent releases, Too Short achieved commercial success with albums such as Born to Mack and Life Is Too Short, the latter earning double platinum status. Throughout the 1990s, his albums regularly reached the top of the Billboard charts. Aside from his solo work, he co-founded the Dangerous Crew and later Mount Westmore, a supergroup with Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and E Forty. Too Short also established Up All Nite Records in 2006, helping to launch acts like the Pack.
